Configure Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
Open Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
If this is the first time you are opening Outlook 2007, e-mail account configuration wizard will start automatically, other wise Click “Tools” menu and then click “Account Settings…” which will bring up following window.
Under “E-mail” tab click “New” button. Select “Manually configure server settings or additional server types” checkbox and then click “Next” button
Select “Internet E-mail” radio button and then click “Next”
Now enter all the details provided by your e-mail service provider. To know more about each individual parameter in the below screenshot please visit Checklist to prepare before configuring Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
If your Outgoing mail server requires authentication then click “More Settings…” button and then click “Outgoing Server” tab. Now select “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” checkbox. Now, click “Advanced” tab to modify Server port numbers.
If your Incoming mail server (POP3) or Outgoing mail server (SMTP) is listening on custom port then you will need to modify those ports.
You can also choose to “Leave a copy of messages on the server” after being physically downloaded to the POP3 client. By default Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 removes successfully downloaded e-mails from the server. You can also choose to leave a copy of messages on the server for a set amount of days (must be between 1 and 100 days).
If you choose to Leave a copy of message and select “Remove from server after” to 3 days, Outlook will maintain a table of all mails downloaded from particular account along with time stamps and message identifiers and will automatically remove messages older than 3 days from the server.
If you choose “Leave a copy of messages on the server” only then Outlook will never delete downloaded mail from the server.
Now click “OK” and then “Next” and then “Finish”. Finally click “Close” button.
