Configure Outlook Express
Checklist to prepare before configuring Outlook Express
You will need to collect following details from your E-Mail/Hosting Service provider
- Your e-mail account
- Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP) Server Host Address
- Incoming mail (POP3) port. Default POP3 port is 110. Incoming mail (IMAP) port. Default IMAP port is 143
- Outgoing mail (SMTP) Server Host Address
- Outgoing mail (SMTP) port. Default SMTP port is 25
- Your e-mail account’s user name and password
- Whether SMTP Authentication is required
Configure Outlook Express
- Open Outlook Express
- Click Tools → Accounts which will bring up the following window.
- Click Add → Mail
- Enter “Display name”. This is the name which is displayed at recipient end instead of your e-mail address directly. Click “Next”
- Enter your e-mail address and then click “Next”
- Select account type i.e. POP3/IMAP/HTTP. Enter your Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, HTTP) server’s host address also enter Outgoing mail (SMTP) server’s host address then click “Next”
- Enter your Account name/Username and Password. Then click “Next”
- Click “Finish”.
- Now click “Properties” and then go to “Servers” tab and then select “My outgoing server requires authentication” checkbox. Click “OK” and then “Close”.
