Setup email account on multiple computers/laptops/mobiles

Sometime it is required to setup single email account on multiple computers so that single email account can be accessed from multiple computers. Some situations where this kind of setup will be required is given below:

  • If you are roaming/travelling user then you would like to receive your emails on your mobile/laptop while on the go. At the same time when you are in office you want to access your emails on your desktop/laptop.
  • Some companies provide single email account to multiple users each having there own desktop/laptop where each user must receive emails on their desktop/laptop.
If you want to setup single email account on multiple computers/laptops/mobiles you will need to configure email account on each computers/laptops/mobiles.

 

Before setting up email account you will need to collect details provided at Information required before configuring email client.

So far everything is similar to the configuration on single computers but while configuring email account on each computer/laptop and also mobile devices, do not forget to mark the option “Leave a copy of message on server“. You can also choose to remove copy from server after some days, you should work out the amount of day for which emails will be kept on server keeping following points in mind:
  • If you have large amount of mailbox/hosting account quota then you can set more number of days to leave a copy of message on server.
  • If you have small amount of mailbox/hosting account quota then to avoid filling up your mailbox/hosting account quota you must set minimum number of days such that each user should get chance to download emails in some situations such as an user is on leave for some days.
